The Kick-off serves as a summit for entrepreneurs to advance their reach, resources, and network via relevant and useful content delivered through panels, activities, and demonstrations.
Bank of America, Miami-Dade County and StartUP FIU Local recently announced the selection of 14 Miami-Dade County small businesses as winners in the county’s BizUp competition.
Fifteen local entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses for a chance to receive between $50,000 and $100,000 grants provided by Miami-Dade County. StartUP FIU Local, in partnership with Bank of America, will provide a year of technical assistance to all 15 participants.

Working together across sectors to deploy our unique resources is very gratifying,” said Emily Gresham, assistant vice president of Research and Economic Development and Co-Founder of StartUP FIU. “A strong small business community ensures a more vibrant and robust economy for all.”
This program, managed in partnership with StartUP FIU Local and Bank of America, will award local startups direct grants worth up to $100,000 and provide finalists up to one year of robust technical support. Small businesses registered in Miami-Dade County, creating a positive community impact, and aligned with Mayor Levine Cava’s “Four E’s:” Equity, Engagement, Environment, and Economy should apply.
Expanding its strategic outreach and assistance to small businesses at the heart of their communities, the Florida Small Business Development Center at FIU Business — FSBDC at FIU Business (FSBDC), has partnered with the City of North Miami Beach and its Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to provide confidential, free consulting to small businesses in its three major commercial districts.
Wells Fargo today awarded an Open for Business Fund grant to Florida International University (FIU) to launch a robust, virtual platform at StartUP FIU Food, a small business incubator that serves food and beverage micro-entrepreneurs in South Florida. The $750,000 grant is projected to offer online resources to more than 1,000 small businesses to help them recover and emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
StartUP FIU, in partnership with Bank of America and The Underline, announced today the 10 winners of the inaugural Miami Small Business Bootcamp during a ceremony at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation recently granted FIU $400,000 to launch the StartUP FIU Food Digital Transformation Program. Launched in 2017 as a collaboration between StartUP FIU and the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, StartUP FIU Food helps local food entrepreneurs strengthen and grow their businesses.
